I tried OpenDOS and other alternative DOSes before. They failed, whereas FreeDOS seems to work on _any_ computer. On the other hand the newer computers tend to lack floppy drives, and work stations in LANs would not boot from CD-ROM. While experimenting I noticed that FreeDOS is undergoing a rather rapid development. Possibly upgrading of your boot diskette to an up-to-date version of FreeDOS will solve your problems.
