Eric,
Is it possible your devices are HighSpeed devices that
need USB2.0, and your mobo only has USB1.1 ports? Also
some USB devices can run on the current supplied by the
USB port, where others need additional power.

Hi Rob,
None of the software that I got either with my
camera or with the add-in USB board wants to work with
my mother board. Both said that they would work on
the packaging but when I got them home the installation
instructions said a faster/newer MB was required. I
tried the installation programs but they all failed.
I am not a W!ndo$e wiz so I don't know if I can
manually install a driver or not.

Eric,
Win98x doesn't have any USB support. You will have to use
drivers from the manufacturer of the device you want to use.
Win2k and XP, both contain drivers for USB. They will auto
mount a device by just plugging it in. Win2k you need to 'stop'
and unmount the device, XP you only have to unplug from the
computer, unmounting is automatic.

Thanks guys, Ron C.,glennmcc,Sam E.,Greg M., Rob, Jason D., and
whoever I missed for the USB info. I did follow the previous threads
on USB and somewhere I have some downloads...but...I never got
around to trying them out. I have a MB with USB ports but I haven't
been able to get them working with W!ndo$e98 yet. I also have an add-in
board w/3 USB ports but my MB didn't want to work with the software/
drivers/board. MB is only an ASUS 233M.
I saw Patrice's post and thought I'd find out if he had something
new since the last USB discussion.

I should also have mentioned that the package I use includes a
note from Joe da Silva, who I think put the package (that works)

package on the web somewhere permanent, or would you like it posted
somewhere else ?
