Nothing to do with the Archive, rather a potential consequence of
Digests, but I agree these subject fields are less than useful.

Was there a digest splitting facility for the old .cz list, or is my
memory at fault?

Alternatively, would Digest users care to volunteer to manually edit
subject lines, in a similar manner to removal of multiple "Re:"
characters on coollist.
