Things seem to be improving.
Your old top speed was 40% of max... that one is 50% of max
Next test.....
Try running 100% on RamDrive (no HDD access at-all)
--- arr.bat is what I use -----
@echo off
C:\EMSDSK\XMSDSK 100000 L: /c1
copy c:\command.com L:\
set comspec=L:\command.com
md L:\temp
set temp=L:\temp
pkunzip.exe -d e:\ARACHNE\!AR195.ZIP L:\
L:
CD \ARACHNE
CALL ARACHNE.BAT
set comspec=c:\command.com
set temp=c:\temp
______________________________________________________
And of-course, in arachne.cfg have the cache dir pointing to....
L:\ARACHNE\CACHE\
With those settings...
there will be zero HDD activity while Arachne is running.
