If linux isn't the OS for you, maybe you would like to take my advice and
just install some of the DOS versions of some unix commands so you can get a
feel for them in dos.  Even if you NEVER try *nix again, I'd predict you'll
come to use them a lot in dos.

In my opinion, it isn't the OS that makes linix great.  It's the philosophy
of Open Source.  But the 'command line commands', if you will, that are part
of a typical unix system are pretty much undeniably way better than that of
a typical dos system.  The good news is Open Source isn't just for linux
anymore and many unix commands have been ported to dos.

So why not just install a few of these commands that have been ported to dos
and go through a good tutorial that shows you how to use them in an
environment you're used to.
