Let me try it this way:

While maintaining the right of any person to disagree with the
statements herein, it is the considered opinion of this person
that BasicLinux, in the form that it was supplied, seems to lack
the integrity that would make it entirely satisfactory for
sustained use as an operating system in its own right.

Is that better?

Well, I agree: BL3.40 does work. But it has some nasty
limitations. I've used it, up to the point where it failed.

I followed the instructions I was given to install some add-ons I
wanted to try out.

Two failed to install after repeated downloads; surely every
download couldn't be faulty if the original files are any good.

Two others installed and worked exactly as expected.

And two other apparently installed and won't work.

Then I copied in one set of Linux HowTo HTML files, and tried to
add another set, and there was no room.

I am informed that the only answer is to delete the installation,
and start again from scratch with a blank slate. And be prepared
to do it again every time it fills up.

And this is supposed to be an operating system? More like a nasty
joke!

I'll be more than fair and admit that maybe there is an answer to
all this. Maybe BL _can_ be made to work in a proper and _useful_
manner.

Glenn McCorkle says the answer is to forget BL and go for the big
stuff which will require _AT_LEAST_2_Gigabytes_ of hard disk
space!

SHEEEEEESH!!! That's almost as much bloatware as the later
flavours of Windoze....

> I bet there's something simple that's being overlooked somehow.

So direct me to someone who really _IS_ using BL3 and I shall take
advice from them.

And if they tell me to delete it and start again every time it
fills up, I'll.... I don't know what I'll do.
