Hi Wiz,
with "before running Windows", I mean exactly that - before I have
started win.com and thus Windows. I do not need any reboot since I have
Win98 configured to not load win.com automatically, so unless I run
win.com, only MS-DOS 7.1 is active. And after I shutdown Windows, it
simply terminates and I am back in MS-DOS again. That is what I meant
when I said that "crashing" Windows is not necessary to go back to DOS.
I do not know why this does not work for Bastiaan; AFAIK this has always
worked with any version of DOS and Windows, up to and including Win98SE.
Regards,
Udo
