Udo,
I can't commetn on Bastiaan, but for myself with Win95 if I go
ahead and start Win95, anything less than a reboot will result in
WIN.COM still being in memory. Windows 3.1 did not do this, as
you have noted. But Windows 95 and later have a tendency to treat
the PC as if it is the only operating system installed.
Yeah, there is a way to 'separate' them so it acts like dos+3.1 but I
forgot how. I think you can do that in win95 and win98. I did this on
my system many years ago. I think win.com not being in memory was one
of the results of separating them. Not sure about xp.
