[arachne] Re: Classic Arachne downloads, EGA monitors???

I keep 2 older versions around on my sites...1.50 and 1.62 come to mind, and I
probably have 1.66 somewhere.

All this talk about what to support, what to discontinue...sheesh. I mean in
the real world, what percentage of computer users even use DOS anymore?
Myself, at this moment, I'm using my Samsung BlackJack PDA Smartphone to read
these emails and write replies. The rules have changed, especially the last 5
yrs or so. More and more "internet" activity is done via mobile devices.
Maybe it's time to relegate DOS itself to museums, and focus on getting Arachne
to run on mobile devices, much like Opera.
Yeah, I know, that would mean using Windows Mobile and ".NET", or an embedded
Linux, but that maybe where the future lies. We are a small group, and seem
to be getting smaller. All this bickering isn't helping either.
Anyway...have a good weekend!

Five minutes with Google will locate multiple sites where you can
download older versions of Arachne.

Such as:

  http://public.planetmirror.com/pub/browsers/arachne/1.2_beta7/arcn12b7.exe

Many other versions were easily available to anyone who wants to
look.

Don't know about EGA monitors, though. I've never even seen one. And
I haven't heard *anyone* discuss actually using one with Arachne in
over ten years at least.

Maybe things are different in Udo's world.
