Eric,

I really do not know what all your talk about limited resources is
about. My mouse driver only needs 3.5 KB of memory, whereas my first 486
PC already had 4 MB of main memory.

I think limited resources is probably no argument against loading a
mouse driver, and given the fact the many programs will not even run
when there is no mouse driver present, there is certainly no reason for
*not* loading the mouse driver even if one does not plan to actually use
the mouse.

I think there are already enough bad jokes about DOS users only using
DOS because they cannot afford a machine capable of running WindowsNT,
Linux or whatever. We certainly do not need anybody to feed the rumours
by stating that he does not load the mouse driver on his DOS machine
because he rather needs the few kilobytes to run applications.

I think the last machine I have seen where loading the mouse driver had
any effect on the free base memory was an XT with a 4.77 MHz 8088
processor, so please tell the world that you hate using the mouse so
much that you rather see those few kilobytes wasted than occupied by a
mouse driver if you like but keep this memory conservation bullshit to
yourself.
