Who said anything about compiling ? Just point your favourite text
editor at arachne\system\gui\saveas.ah ..... it is an ASCII file, it is
not compiled ..... then insert the text in any convenient place in that
saveas.ah file and save it as ASCII. The "code" I was referring to is
HTML-type code:
------------------------------------
<!--start resize images-->
<FORM ACTION="file://bigpix.dgi">
<INPUT TYPE="hidden" URL>
<br><BUTTON TYPE=SUBMIT>View large image without scrolling - images only
!</BUTTON>
</form>
<!--end resize images-->
------------------------------------
Same with the mime.cfg line - use a text editor and just insert the
line, save it as ASCII:
file/bigpix.dgi |@QV\\QV.EXE $L

And is about the ONLY place to add new ones - that is where the
NEmedia links go, too.

In fact, it is such a reliable "hack" that I have installed it
permanently on my main Arachne. Wish I had thought about it much
earlier !
It does work. Any graphic that QV can handle on its own can be viewed
by this method from Arachne - even with graphics wider/higher than
Arachne herself can scroll.
If QV is not good enough, I could have a look at using lxpic instead.
All that would need to be changed (apart from the saveas.ah to put the
button there in the first place) would be the single mime.cfg line.
