[arachne] Beware of "freezes and creahes" [sic.]

Hello

Warning: Even though I have popup windows disabled in my linux version
Firefox browser, I sometimes get a popup window originating from a web
site that I didn't even visit that says:
"
            The page at http://onlinepublicscan.com says:

ATTENTION: If your computer is struck by the virus, you could suffer
data loss, erratic PC behavior, PC freezes and creahes.

Detect and remove viruses before they damage your computer!
Antivirus 2009 will perform a 100% FREE and quick scan of your computer
for Viruses, Spyware and Adware.

Do you want to install Antivirus 2009 to scan your
computer for malware now?

                                                  Cancel OK
                                                                   "

Whenever I would get that popup I used to click on the "Cancel" button.
I click on the "Cancel" button because clicking on the "X" in the upper
right does not result in closing the popup window. This damn popup is a
"sticky stay". Immediately after clicking on the "Cancel" button
another popup would suddenly appear that says "Downloading" and showing
a progress bar. At that point a pull the plug on my computer. What a
dang-blasted consternation!

I have since found that even though this popup is a sticky-stay that
can't be closed, I have discovered that I can simply move it out of my
way, like down to the very bottom of my screen so that it doesn't cover
up any part of the web page I am visiting. When I leave the web site
and go to visit another web page the sticky-stay window still stays
there at the bottom of the next web page. I wonder if the sticky-stay
is designed to track my browsing activities.

Don't know, but, anyway, that is a good way to avoid "freezes and
creahes"
