[arachne] Re: Best PDF provision

Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club!

I did use for quite some time the DOS utility "PDF2HTM" introdoced by
Joerg a few years ago.

PDF2HTM uses GS (GhostScript) to convert PDF to images (bmp) which can be
viewed with Arachne.
This worked very well although the file sizes become quite large.

But... PDF-files are evolving and GS was not... the GS version Joerg
used was dated 1997.

GS that was sent by Patrice seems to be a newer version with files dated
2003.

Is it possible to have the old GS directory replaced by the new version
and have an updated version of PDF2HTM that is able to view newer PDF
versions?

Why do I ask? There is no documentation on how to use the new GS
version. The command "GS" does not function so how to run this version?

(BTW it is possible to make PDF-files with GS too.)

Regards, Bastiaan
