This is very curious, and hello all I'am back from my vacation, I had
just ONE attachment to Joe's test message... no winmail.dat or anything
like that just a readable HTML text.
I include the original message as received here as a3387d75.cnm
Regards, Bastiaan

Title: [arachne] Re: coollist gone, freelists available....
Hi all,
If you can't read
this, sorry, it's the old base64 coding problem again ...
If you can, then you may be interested to
know that Gregy has had
a little
(much neglected;-) Arachne list running for over 5 years at :
And, for those not yet familiar with Yahoo Groups (formerly
eGroups),
yes, you can join the list and participate in discussions purely
via e-mail,
just like any other list. In other words, you don't need to bother
with a
Yahoo-ID and/or becoming a fully-fledged group member. (See
the
middle of the page for the appropriate e-mail addresses.)
Joe.

You have highlighted an important
issue... that list servers can be
unreliable, and we
could lose "Arachne enthusiasts" because of
that.
I think back a year or so, to one of the
other Arachne lists, under Michael
Polak, which
finally died, but which we had difficulty un-subscribing
from.
Now, Arachne at coollist.com has
died.
God help us
is freelists.org
disappears.
I am not a fan of making things
complex.
But, to preserve and protect our
Arachne community is it wise to set up
another
Arachne list server, in a different domain, just so that we do
not
lose this exceptionally valuable Arachne group
of participants.
Would love to hear your
thoughts, and maybe also those of L.D.Best, and
the
others in this group.
