[arachne] BMP files or GIF? (reproducible)

Hi All,

I did some further tests and at first there seems no advantage in
setting the JPEG converting to GIF instead of BMP.

Images wider than 1214 pix (maybe 1280 = 2x 640... my screen is 640 x 
480) could not displayed at full width in GIF or BMP.
That is in 1.75 

I changed in 1.75 mime.cfg:      (this configuration as in 1.61)

;image/jpeg   JPG>BMP etc  (commented out by ;)
image/jpeg    JPG>GIF|@call djpeg.exe $1 $2

      djpeg.exe is not in 1.75 arachne directory => get it there

VirtualScreen = 4000   (in arachne.cfg)

Decoding the JPG to GIF looks quicker and does not have large bmp's in
the cache. As I was looking for the decoded GIF I could not detect it in
the cache.
How come I can view the GIF on the screen in the inbox? Where is it
stored?

Big surprise: in 1.61 I was able to view ALL of a JPG converted to GIF
of a picture 1754 x 1184... and the GIF-version could be found and
viewed in the cache ;-)  and in the inbox.
