Yes... unfortunately, the Avira rescueCD does not work 'out of the box'
with serial mice but only with PS/2 & USB mice.
However, there is hope.
At the 'boot: prompt' try this all on one line and then hit <enter>.....
boot: vmlinuz initrd=initrd.gz vga=769 ramdisk_size=99889 root=/dev/ram0
rw console=/dev/vc/4 mouse=serial0
'boot prompt' already there... do not type 'boot:'
serial0 if your mouse is on com1, serial1 for com2
All of the above is exactly what's in the isolinux.cfg file on the CD
but then we add 'mouse=serial0' (or 1)
