[arachne] Re: Arachne on ubuntu server

Hey David,
I'm not sure, but if Ubuntu is like Debian, you will
have to install a package called 'svgalib-bin'. You
can prolly get it with 'apt-get install'. Also check
and make sure the kernel module 'svgalib_helper.ko',or
similar is loaded. I had problems with that on an older
Slackware system that came with a 2.4 kernel, but I was
running a new 2.6 kernel and had to compile an alpha
version of svgalib, then modprobe svgalib_helper.ko, so
make sure a svgalib_helper module is loading. Hope this
helps.

I don't play a lot of fancy guitar. I don't want to play it.
The kind of guitar I want to play is mean, mean licks.

It needs svgalib.  There's a relatively recent post on this list with the
installation steps.

I have installed:

libsvga1
libsvga1-dev
libjpeg-progs
imagemagick
libmagick++9-dev
mpg123
gpm

before I install arachne.

I just joint this list today, could you give me a link to
browse/search recent post?
