Re: EGA, CGA, XT's and Arachne


I started using Arachne with version .99 and have been reading the
various Arachne email lists since 1995. At the very beginning there
were vaarious attempts by various people to run Arachne on XT's. It
was never very possible without some additional memory on an "add-in"
card.

There was a tiny bit of talk about EGA cards that I can remember.

I did try to run Arachne in a very early version on an XT with a CGA
card--it took forever to accomplish anything whatsoever.

Pretty useless if you ask me. There are many available versions of
Arachne that support this very limited hardware--so there is no
reason whatsoever that I can see for *future* versions to support
historical hardware.

Anybody who needs EGA or CGA support can always dig out an old
version.
