I suppose the 99.99% (where did you get this figure?) who allegedly do
not need CGA *and* EGA will not need the Real Mode version of Arachne,
either, once the DPMI version is working perfectly. And the 0.01% who
need it because they only have an XT class machine probably might not
enjoy the few KB very much if this means that Arachne will no longer
work with their graphics boards. So what is the purpose of this change?

IMO it is good that you are not in charge and cannot make this decision
for all of us.

This just proves that your code is not a complete rewrite.

This is more true than you realize yourself.

I bet you could. Maybe you find somebody if you keep looking.

Which does not help much if it goes to waste. There is no purpose in
having more free memory if it is not put to good use. In fact, the
problem of Arachne is that it has *too much* free memory and too little
to do with it. On the other hand, having Arachne display web pages
faster means nothing on fast machines, whereas on slow machines,
removing the CGA and EGA support could cripple it.

Let's face it, even with all your "optimizations", your version is still
a dead end.
