Sure, I agree, it's just that I have gotten a bit discouraged by the
fact that I'm working by myself. All the work I've done on the code isn't
going to help the Linux version if I can't get anyone to use it.
A bit of support would go a long way. The biggest problem we face is the
fact that Glenn and some of the others are still trying to polish a
turd so to speak by continuing to believe that the old sources can be
tweeked into shape, whereas the fact is that they are fundamentaly
flawed at the deepest level.
I've pretty much got core.exe whipped into shape, so I've started to
intigrate the video library directly into the core so that it becomes
easy to see where the changes need to be made to port it to Linux.
As it is, the Linux port doesn't use the XLOPIF library which is too
bad, since the library contains low level stuff that is essential without
another layer of patches and fixes to compensate for it's absence.
Xchaos himself was smart enough to give up on that approach.
In the last week I've cut over 300K of code from the .lib -- either
irrelevant or integrated directly into core and optimized.
Alas, I've lead the horse to water but it refuses to drink.

Ray Andrews
