Glenn,

I have attempted installing Arachne for Linux on Slackware 3.5/4.0,
Slackware 7.1 (with svgalibs from SW9.1) and in full distro of Slackware
9.1.

None run. :(

Similar messages from each: e.g.

svgalib: Signal 11: Segmentation fault received
/usr/bin/arachne: line 7 : 636 Segmentation fault /usr/bin/arachne-svgalib $*

Segmentation faults are often an indication that an expected library
is not found. Could it be that you have something in your Slackware 12
that I don't have in my "lesser" Slackwares ?

Nope, no worries there.

I compiled her in SlackWare v7 and she runs perfectly on v7 as-well.

In-fact... I looked -back at the screen-caps again and I was mistaken
when I told you over on the message board that they were made in SW v12

Those actually were made while booted to SW v7

Sooooo....

If you are currently using a driver for some specific video card.....
instead, try switching to the vesa driver in /etc/vga/libvga.config

Aslo....

Be sure to un-comment the lines way down at the bottom for restoring
text mode upon exiting Arachne (or any other svgalib app)
I got farther in slackware 12.1. but the problem is that svga-helper seems to have compile issues with the new kernel. I found a pld rmp I used and arachne does start up. It gets me to google but when i try to search for something it give url not found error. i must not have found the proper setting because shutting down leaves me with a screen with diagonals.
