[arachne] Re: Another DSL adventure

funny but no text in Mozilla Thunderbird. But there was an attachment that could not be opened.

So I copied this mail to "My documents" and renamed the long filename to destiny.eml (extension by thunderbird)

Copied again to Arachne to MAIL\destiny.cnm (this extension for Arachne mailhandling)

Went to DOS-prompt in Win98 en opened Arachne and on to the inbox en there it was!

****************** There was a question, some week ago, about using Arachne off line for mail viewing, that is what I just did.

This is the result in Arachne... the attachment that could not be opened in windows is shown in Arachne!

Not so funny: I can not include the file destiny.txt into this text field... or I don't know how to do it :-((

So it will be an attachment. See comment on wattcp.cfg

  Subject: [arachne] Another DSL adventure

============================================================================

Arachne at FreeLists---The Arachne Fan Club!

 After the discussion with previous fellow trying to get Arachne functioning
with DSL thought I should no trouble. Wishful thinking. Have a Linksys
router in between set for dhcp server with PPoE enabled. Connection works
in other OS and using same numbers.

 arachne.cfg
Connection READY

[tcp/ip]
IP_Address 192.168.1.2
IP_Grab IP address set to
NameServer 192.168.1.1
AltNameServer 141.162.130.155
Gateway 192.168.1.1
AltGateway
Netmask 255.255.255.0
TCPconfig PPPrtr.CFG

 ppprtr.cfg
my_ip=192.168.1.2
netmask=255.255.255.0
gateway=192.168.1.1
sockdelay=60
hostname=green
mss=1452

 wattcp.cfg
pkt.vector = 0x60 ; optional
my_ip =dhcp
netmask = 255.255.255.0
nameserver = 192.168.1.1 ; secondary DNS, optional << is the nameserver
192.168.1.1
nameserver = 142.161.2.155                          << or 142.161.2.155? can't
be both!
gateway = 192.168.1.1
domain_to = 0  ; optional
dynamic_host = 0  ; optional
inactive = 0  ; optional
datatimeout = 120 ; optional
debug = 0  ; optional
mtu = 1492 ; optional

With this setup ping will attemtp to contact router, activity lights flash
error: cannot resolve host's hardware access
Packet driver loads and Arachne signals TCP/IP green bottom corner.
Attempting any address arachne seeks name server for address and hangs there

Tried dhcp in place of my_ip. dhcp/bootp failure for it and ping.
Cannot understand why packet driver does not ping router when upon init port
light on router lights and pinging produces activity light at router and
modem. Suggestions welcome, will try connection tomorrow.
