In response to my request for assistance with the problem of my external
editor's writings not getting into insight's mail out system, Sam
Heywood said:

"First I go into my outbox and I edit the saved message by addingt the
message body by using my external editor. Then I save that and it is
ready to send." "Works for me".
I tried to emulate that with my VDE external editor, but could never
seem to get inside the outbox with my editor to enter text.
Does anyone have any further comments with respect to that problem?"
