Part of this is an old bug -- the part about loosing the address etc.
fields when you come back from an external editor. However, your
text most certainly should be loaded into the text area. I use
external editors all the time and that's never a problem. So
something is very busted. I'd recomend temporarily REMing the
lines in arachne.bat that delete $roura$.bat, then try editing an
email, and then quit and take a look at the $roura$.bat that would have
been created as your external editor was used, it should give an idea
what's wrong. My core creates a file called 'external.log' which
records all such external events, and it's useful for debugging this
sort of thing.
