This is the address of the card in the machine???
Converted the hex into decimal: 0 224 76 64 239 150 but how about the dots
in the addresses? Do they have any meaning?

Ah ha... it sounds to me as if you are behind a router.
(not connected directly to the ADSL modem)

ADSL modem ---> Router ---> machine #1
                       \
                        \-> machine #2
****** It is a box combining a router with 4 ports and the ADSL-modem.

So..... here are the settings you'll need for Arachne.

**** I suppose I have to use MY numbers for:
my_ip ... is this "My ethernet address 00:E0:4C:40:E8:96" ???
gateway ... unknown??
nameserver ... at the back of the modem/router: MODEM ACCESS CODE 1253711353
(no dots)

Further details from the provider:
Hostname: adsl-surfen.hetnet.nl
IP-address: 84.82.75.66 = address to my computer on internet (my
ADSL-telephone number??)

The computer is not connected 24/24 hours to internet, but dial in (paying
by the minute)
