Sam,
Without "all that training", you would have a pharmacy where
only the pharmacy technician finished the prescription. I have
4 techs, of which I can supervise 2 at any one time. I have the
responsibility of making DARNED sure the prescription is filled
correctly, in every aspect. I also have the privilege of giving
the patient advice on proper handling, as well as any problems
they should be aware of such as adverse drug effects, interractions,
and anything else they ask. For this, the insurance companies
think $2 or less is sufficient. So...my question to people has always
been...what is quality medical care worth to you? If it were you, or
a family member, would you be willing to chip in the cost of a cup
of latte at Starbucks to know what to expect in terms of your medication?
Hopefully, enough people do think enough of their health care, or at
least their families.
Sure, a trained monkey can put pills in the bottle...but ask the monkey
when you are supposed to take them when you can't make heads or
tails out of the "monkeyese" typed on the label. Yes, people can order
medication from internet sources...but when you have a problem, DO
NOT ASK YOUR LOCAL PHARMACIST!! We are not the ones that
received anything for the service you request.
Anyway...Merry Christmas Gang!
C U L8R!
