[GM: David, riz and Aaron, this is you.]
David says:
Lets try to keep the quoting to a minimum eh? Our poor GM will go
crazy formatting.
I'm going to start by using the same formatting style from the
previous PBEM I was in and adapt as necessary to this one.
Elsewhere in the Sand Stone
----------
The private room had all the emenities expected-- couches, tables,
chairs along with a single lamp hanging from the ceiling. Terry
McMartin, Keavy Huang and Roghen Czeshin had long since ordered
drinks, but they were now long overdue. With them sat a man that
went by the name of Slynt. When asked his last name, he just returned
Slynt.
Slynt looked down at his watch and smiled, showing the gap made by
his missing two of his front teeth. "I know that they should be here
soon," he assured the threesome. At that point, the door opened and
two large, imposing figures walked in. The light revealed that one was
a Morgana GREL and the other dressed in Sand Rider's garb.
As they entered, Slynt stood up and started to speak, but stuttered as
the Sand Rider threw a bag of coins at the small man. "You may
leave," the Morgana spoke forcefully. Slynt bowed and quietly
cowered out through the door, closing it behind him and leaving the
three with the two imposing figures. The Sand Rider moved toward the
far corner, his upper torso disappearing in the shadows. The Morgana
grabbed a chair and spun it around, straddling it and sitting. "The
Colonel will be here soon," the GREL woman informed.
Outside, a verbal ruckus rose to a crescendo and then died down. The
door reopened and a short, fat man and a tall, beautiful woman
entered. The man carried a cane and wore a top hat in the style of a
CEF command cap. "Ah good, everyone that should be here, is here."
The man paused as if realizing that he had repeated himself. The
woman appeared to roll her eyes and sat down on the couch opposite
the threesome.
"Well, yes," the man continued unabated. "I guess I should explain
about Slynt. Wonderful fellow, he is, but a damn annoyance if he
learns too much. I have to maintain an allure of, em, power with folk
like him. You understand." Then without pausing, he pressed, "Allow
me to introduce myself, I am the Colonel, and this is my beautiful and
lovely wife, Jezabel." He gestured toward the woman as she adjusted
her short skirt which revealed her long, seductive thighs. The Colonel
starred at them for a moment before recollecting himself and
continuing.
"So, I hear that you are in the market of a position on the Redliners."
He looked each of them deadpan in the face and asked plainly,
"Why?"
[Terry says]
Terry felt that first impressions often gave the measure of a man as
he listened to the Colonel's first words: "Maintain an allure of power."
Any military trained Colonel wouldn't need an illusion. They'd have
the training and confidence to demand it. In addition, he brought
what looks like his trophy wife along to the recruiting meeting.
"We're a natural fit." Terry said, "We - a pilot, mechanic and agent
have been deuling independantly for just over three cycles now, learning
the business from the ground up. You're reforming the Redliners after
the death of your superstar pilot. We're looking to move up in the world
and go pro."
"Las time I checked you were down to three pilots and two mechanics.
We can supply you with one more of each and have the advantage of
having worked together for a long time now in the industry in question."
He indicated [Bryan's char]: "We all know that for a new deulist she
has an impressive record. Wins/losses, plus minus, time attacks,
enduranc, team action[1] - she rates high in all areas." Before
sweeping around to [Aaron's char]: "The primary reason being our
grade-A pit monkey. He knows gears, how to keep them in working
order and how to get me to spend the money to keep them that way."
"Why would you not?"
[1] Who ever though that my knowledge of hockey and fave fighting
game DoA2 would come in handy?
