Members and Friends of Austin Mennonite Church I pray you are finding refreshment and sensing assurance as you continue your journey of faith. Humans seem to be
characterized by
an intense pursuit of an actual or perceived objective. Maybe it is a new creation, or a better
business structure, or an improved pattern of production, or an
increased
profit margin. It may be a
group-directed
activity or an individual quest, yet this tendency to produce
can quickly
become an actual practice in the life of people.
What is the reason for this industrious use of
time? From where does it originate? Perhaps it is the consequence of the human
capacity to dream and to imagine perfection.
Or maybe it is the result of being out of touch with the
natural rhythms
of nature. And, there is also the
consideration of whether or not this practice of obsessively
pursuing some
objective is a good thing or a thing which interferes with the
enrichment that
the human creature has been fashioned to experience while
journeying in the
earth. Whenever we have some
enlightening
experience there are basically two alternatives open to us: we can immediately began crafting from our
resources something that will preserve this impression, or we
can pause and
immerse ourselves in the wonder of what this vision means. And what role does
faith play in
this proceeding?
