I am one of the fortunate ones that only had one corner of my basement shop (an area about 8x12; plus other areas of the basement) under water and only damage was to some wood shelves. I am one of the few with power, as about 90% of the town has no power. I was able to borrow a neighbors shop vac, but had to wade through knee deep water in the parking lot of the local ACE Hardware to get a high velocity fan to put in the shop to dry the carpet. Most major highways are closed and damaged by high water and even interstate 70 will be closed until Monday. The state is virtually shut down from north to south and many point inbetween. Tens of tHousands of people have been evacuated in the center of the state due to deep water in their homes. Car lots, churches, resturaunts and other businesses are und er water. The sounds of helicopters, sirens and air boats really give the area a sur-real feeling. FEMA and State rescue people are here and people are staying in local schools and churches that are dry. My husband works for the local radio station and he has broadcast live at the EMA station all day. Really strange weather this year, but I thank God we are all safe!
