I did turn of the machine and downed the OS and then brought everything back up again. And it did work to correct the problem. Fortunately I had noted the x position after moving the hoop quite a ways to the right, so could get back to the exact center I had started with. I continued sewing and everything came out perfectly. Didn't even damage the jacket! Well, another good day.
