The small raised piece you are referring to is a press fit into the needle
plate. I suppose that you could do a temporary fix and super-glue it down but
it does need to be replaced.
Several of the folks on this forum have been using the flat needle plate on the
standard Amaya and using the presser foot just as you would on flat sewing to
hold the cap down to prevent flaging. If you want to try this, it is best to
remove the side wings off the cap driver. The side wings are used with the
raised needle plate to help level out the curved surface of the cylinder. I
have tried this and it seems to work just fine.....but get that presser foot
down to prevent flagging....
