[amayausers] Re: fraying thread

A couple questions.
Have you run this design before without any problems?
How old is the thread and the brand name?
How old is the needle and the brand?
Is it only one color that keeps fraying? If so try changing it from color 1 to color 2 (or whatever number you are using on the tree)
Is the needle proper for the material you are sewing on?
When was the machine oiled last?
Do you have the proper backing for that material?
What speed are you running it at?
What material are you sewing on?
Sorry for the amount of questions but all of these make a difference...

I highly doubt it's you personally! Is this a problem you are having now? I'm
no expert but this would be a small list of things (gleaned from this user
group, the Embroidery Line, and past personal problems) I would check if you
are experiencing frays.
Design - stitch length, density too many stitches in one small space
Needle - burrs, is the scarf facing the back, is it the right size for the job
Thread - is it old or is your work space too dry? this will cause breaks too.
This is a place to start but there are tons more users that will give you
better and more advice.

Why do threads fray?
Is it a problem with the needle, the material thickness, the backing, Me????
Or all of the above?
