I have sewed on heavy and medium weight shirts and it doesn't seem to matter
much. I have used a lot of the Hanes 5170 because you can buy them for a
buck or so. But the heavier 6 plus ounce 100% cotton shirts work well for
someone who wants a more stable, absorbent, longer wearing shirt. Most name
brand shirts work well so it really is a matter of price. I think Jerzees
are on sale now. Broder's has the 5.6 oz 100% cotton 363 on sale for $.98
for whites. Add 50% or so for darks. Most suppliers are about that. If you
are printing you may want to limit your choice to something like the Anvil
979. I don't personally do printing so I have to rely on my contractor for
his preferences. Your backing sounds about right. Does that help?

Good morning everyone.
What do you think is the best t-shirt for left-chest embroidery? I believe
someone once told me there was a Gildan that he thought was superior, but I
don't remember the style number. I'm doing white tees, and a limited
quantity.
Any tips for stabilizers would be welcome, too. I have tested my design with
two layers of no-show mesh and a tear/wash-away topper hooped with the
shirt.

Hello,
I just received delivery of my first XT. I'm experiencing Material
Thickness differences from the old Amayas. I'm not using the auto
material thickness yet.
Hats sewn at 13 seem to want to sew at 10 or 11. I've set the bobbin
tension a little tighter and I think the result is same. I don't recall
anyone else running into this.
