I was having all kinds of trouble with fonts until I got the tech over to
fix my machine. He brought it up to date to current standards and showed me
a couple of things that helped a lot. The BIG thing was replacing the thread
rollers and cam. The thread rollers don't last long at all. I got about 150
thousand stitches on one recently. They should be replaced when you find ANY
groove in them. Rod Stringer did an outstanding job for me. After he was
finished, I was able to increase the speed to 1300 for most designs. The
less than .25 inch fonts work better at 1100. If you are doing .20 and
smaller you might want to consider using 60 thread and a 65/9 needle. 60 can
be bought at Madera. Wendy is right though, the AMAYA does not like very
small fonts. 

I can get good results with Block at .25 but it does best at .30 and above. 
If you are having trouble with sewing text, you might want to try increasing
the column feed to 60, playing with the material thickness a bit and
increasing the pull comp to 130% or better. I use doubled medium backing and
topping to get the best text. Be sure you are hooped tightly but not
stretched. If you have hoop burn, use light body Magic Sizing and the marks
will just disappear.
