Ditto Terri,
The Notes Icon on the tool bar has been a god send for me. I keep all of
the thread colors, fabric types and apparel p/n's, needle types, as well as
backing material or SOLVY material used. Once you insert the info you want
and save the notes almost like a separate file they become part of the
stitch pattern. Thanks MELCO, good idea!

Hi Larry and All,
When purchasing designs from Dakota, ask for them in OFM format? I know I
have seen CD sets from them with their designs in OFM format.
OFM format is the only Melco format that color information is held in the
file as actual parts of it. Neither CND, EXP or other machine formats like
DST etc. have those provisions. Only native formats such as OFM (Melco),
EMB(Wilcom) and others hold color information. All of these type of formats
are what we commonly call the software "native format". With no color
information in the other file types, the software when opening one without
color information will use the current default color palette. If you would
like a set of colors that you feel is more appropriate, the default palette
can be changed by you to any colors you want them to be, and saved as a
Custom Palette. You can create as many different Custom Palettes as desired,
and load the different ones at will.

Just thought I would weigh in with my 2 cents,
It certainly would be nice if the Dakota designs would open with at
least a color that the designer / digitizer had in mind. It doesn't
matter that the brand may not be Melco's, we can find a way to convert
from brand to brand. At least that way we would have a good starting
point and not just a starting point in left field, (examples) lt brown,
dk brown, gray, etc, etc.
Set aside the fact many of the designs I've used need a lot of tweaking
(or is that just me?).
It seems that a lot of times we are in the silk purse business.
It does do the heart good when the customer looks at your work and just
gushes about how good it looks.
Hope I didn't upset to many folks, just my frustration.

As far as the extended warranty, still trying to figure out what it does
cover. Guess if I need service I will be paying out of pocket.

Was wondering if I have something set up/defaulted incorrectly.
Whenever I open or insert a purchased design in Design Shop the colors
of the design are not what they should be. I cannot seem to find where
I need to correct this in Design Shop. Help, please.
