[amayausers] cap help

I'm doing an order for 15 structured caps. I'm using medium weight cutaway, a
sharp 75/11 needle, the raised needle plate and the WACF (and the support
wings). [I've also turned off bobbin detection; needle raised and material feed
at 8] My problem after doing 5 hats I am on my 10th needle (i.e. I've broken 9
needles). The breaks have been in different places but usually it blanks my
Amaya out and resets the software so I have to reload the design (fortunately
it
shows what stitch it left off which I take note of before I reload). It is
almost like it is hitting the metal plate; I've checked the alignment without
anything hooped and it seems to be centered. I've tried rubbing the buckram (a
medium weight) to soften it a bit and that seems to help a bit but I'm still
having problems. Any suggestions? I've not done a lot of caps before but I want
to be able to without this frustration. Thanks!
