Hi Rod,
First thing to do is to see if you can manually rotate the Z Axis. Push in
the E-Stop, then reach in underneath the main sewing head, there is a large
cut out area you can reach up into, and there is a long shaft that is the Z
Shaft, with the E-Stop in, rotate the metal shaft, it should rotate fairly
easy. Turn it until the needle bar goes up and the take-up lever is in line
with the rest of the take-up levers. Release the E-Stop, it will either go
to head up on its own, or you should be able to go to Maintenance, and do a
Head Up. You should now be able to get it to go to head up. If it does not
rotate easily when manually rotating it, then there is thread wrapped up
inside the hook or perhaps behind it that is part of the result of the birds
nest.
Let me know what you find...

Subject: [amayausers] Z axis error
Hi all,
Especially any tech types that may be reading.
My operator just informed me that he had a birdnest issue
when I got back from the bank. but know the needle (12)
has dropped down halfway and won't lift up.
I've tried the emergency stop and I've tried the maintenance
tab and tried the head up and head down buttons with no avail.
It clicks and sounds like a solenoid is trying to activate it
the needle bar, but isn't lifting it.
Any ideas or is it Call Melco time??
Suddenly I got a glitch minutes later in another machine.
We couldn't sew anything, it just streams thread as soon
as the start button is pushed. Had my operator baffled!
I looked at all the usuals and didn't see any problems
until I looked at the computer and noticed the screen was
knocked out and could see parts of the background in my
Amaya OS. then I looked at the thread feed. which hadn't
been adjusted and it was 4357!! talk about feeding thread!!
Can't adjust it everything is goofy
so we are shutting down and resetting.
This computer is a stand alone just for the Amaya OS
and runs nothing else and has no network or internet
connections.
Just my lucky day!!
If anyone has any ideas what to look for with the needle bars
let me know, I am mechanically inclined so I can tear into and
put back together so I am ready for my challenge.
Thanks in advance!
