Did this change recently? They used to allow non-alcoholic drinks to be brought 
on. 
Juli, just bring an empty water bottle and fill it up before you leaves the 
ship and carry it off (just put it in your purse as they won't xray or search 
anything leaving the ship.) Pour it out before getting back on the ship and 
keep the empty bottle in your purse. Problem is solved.
Carnival will not force you throw away an empty bottle. They will xray anything 
brought back onto the ship.
