[amayausers] Re: UPS

Actually, the computer can be set to automatically shut down when running on
battery power. The settings are in the power management section. I
suspect, that's what happened with your computer :)

:
:To all,
:There seems to be questions from time to time on battery
:backup supplies so I did some testing. I have an APC 500,
:which I think I purchased for about $70, for my single Amaya
:and computer that runs it. I tested with a 4700 stitch
:design. As soon as the design started I pulled the main plug.
: Everything ran normal for thirty seconds then the computer
:auto shut down. The Amaya kept running and finished the
:design which took five minutes. I finally shut the machine
:off at the six minute mark. At this time I don't know how
:much longer the machine would have sewn, but I do know it will
:sew at least six minutes off my battery.
:After I recharged the battery I turned on only the computer
:and pulled the UPS plug. The computer ran for three minutes
:and fifteen seconds then auto shut down.
:Moral of the story: the computer requires allot more power
:than the Amaya.
:I hope this information is of some use to those with
:questions. I know it answered some of mine.
