We hunt naugas here in Northern Montana 
They are fierce animals!

It is correct in that their hide varies greatly in weight and in other ways 
from hide to hide
But
It is usually fairly stable and not stretchy
So - You probably can get by with a "wet laid" non directional tearaway.
But
Cutaways do generally lead to better registration as the fibers are longer 
allwing the threads to entangle themselves easier = better definition
