[amayausers] Re: Scanner recommendation for the digitizing process?

Pati,

I have an HP scanner that's several years old. It does a great job and
remains attached to my old computer because it's not USB. Since my
computers are networked its not a problem. I have used it less and less
over the years due to email.

To display an image at actual size in Design Shop you only need to scan
at 254 dpi. Any more than that and you are consuming more memory and
possibly slowing down your system. Most flatbed scanners on the market
will be sufficient. The only requirement is TWAIN compatibility.

One quick note about digitizing from business cards. Use them as a last
resort. The printer or graphic artist that created the card should have
a copy of the art on file. It's better to start with art at least the
actual size of the finished design.

Another good thing to have is image editing software. Corel Photo Paint
is good and I recently tried Adobe Elements and like it.

Subject: [amayausers] Scanner recommendation for the digitizing process?

Hello!

I am in the market for a new scanner and would like to ensure I pick a
product that will be effective for scanning business cards, pictures and
photos from
which to digitize.

Can any of you on the amayauser list provide me with your recommended
brand/style of scanner?

Thank you.
