Roland, What a DEAL!!! I'm gonna call Sanmar ASAP!!! I have found the house brand at AMTEX (Peregrin Bay) to be better than the major brands. Especially their peached twills, and only $7. something!! I get their denimsshirts as well as their ladies pique polos, which have the Johnnie collar, but no buttons and are a slightly fuller-longer cut. The ladies love it!!! I like the idea of Sanmars samples. So far I've had to pay full price for samples and then if they need a different size, I'm stuck with the sample!! Oh well...live and learn I guess!!! Here's a good tip-for the newcomers to 'wholesale' embroidery and printing... Many companies will have an 'Account Rep' that can be assigned to your account. This is a good way to 'get deals' by having the direct personal contact. Sanmar, I know...it worked for me. I was able to talk directly to him, got 'case price' settings (they have to enter it into the computer or you won't get it all the time), free freight over $200 on almost everything. Best deal I got-I had a big order potential for jackets-and told him I needed 'samples' for size 'ordering'. Here's the deal...if you order a 'sample' item with color swatches- you get huge discount BUT the swatches are attached with a brass grommet-destroying that garment for use. Instead, you tell your 'rep' you need 'wearable' samples-and you can order multiple samples and get up to half off the case price! So I was able to get one of each jacket size I needed, from Small up to Tall Man XXX- all at 1/2 off my regular price. So a year later, and usually when some stock items are discontinued, I can work those 'samples' into a regular order (at full price to the customer) and order new samples of something else. I did the same with Gildan sweatshirts-one each of every size. And every time I ordered sweats, or shirts, for a customer order-I would order an 'extra' in a couple sizes in a different color than my samples. This gave me an extra (in case of a reject) and eventually a case of sample of every size and most colors. Now you have 'try on' samples for customers to get orders from. You can compare brand to brand, and even see the difference in weight between colors. (Black is always heavier. Know why? Not a heavier material-but the DYE is heavier!) If you really are going to specialize in 'group' or 'school' orders- make up a full set of what you are doing- sweatshirts for fund raisers, for example-and put YOUR LOGO on each one. Now you can 'give' them a full set for size testing-YOUR name is repeatedly out there to be seen, and no problem getting YOUR samples back later. Blank items disappear...YOUR item makes it easy to spot. And a good bet-compare a 'house brand' to a 'name brand'. Gildan vs. Port Authority for Sanmar, or Jerzee vs. Harvard Square- New England Sportwear (NES). The 'house brand' may be made by the same factory-but I know with Port Authority-a 'tad' bit heavier, 'smidgen' bit wider, longer in the length, heavier seams, etc. You pay a little more-but get a much better quality! So when you need a sweatshirt to 'cover those hips'....try the 'house brand' sample and see how it fits.
