Debbie,
Did you do a center hoop command at the console? I can't imagine that it
would look centered on the screen and the hoop arms not be centered, but....

I clicked on both the center hoop and center design in the OS but the first
stitch still started an inch or so below center. All the names I picked, no
matter how old, did the same thing. Kind of threw me, too. I never had this
many problems with my big red. Maybe it will resolve itself after turning
back on today. The main problem is if the design fills up the hoop
completely it would continue giving you a hoop limit error message, or if
you sewed it as is, it actually would hit the hoop. Guess I'll just have to
go up to the next size hoop if that situation presents itself! Have a good
day! Debbie

How critical is doing the maintenance exactly when the message pops up?
It's Christmas and busy, and I find myself wantning to hit "ignore" to get a
job done. I figure hitting ignore once and running a small job and then
doing maintenance is OK, but how big a problem is it to run several jobs
first? I know the smart thing is to do it right away every time but IT"S
CHRISTMAS so how big a sin would it be?

Depends on which maintenance. At the very least oil your hook 1-2 times a
day and make sure the resevoir that gets 15-20 drops has oil in it. Other
than that you could wait til the weekend to do a major maintenance but I
wouldn't wait too long.

Gini,
If you have been waiting for the maaintanance timers to tell you to
lubricate....then you are already overdue and yes it is a very big sin to
just hit ignore and keep on trucking.

If you are in the middle of a design, then don't worry about it....if you
want to finish up one or two more garments..don't worry about it, unless it
is the rotary hook maintanance.......but...but...but

IF you are in a high production mode or environment...you had better worry
about it big time.....at the speeds the Amayas run it needs lubrication...

Merry Christmas...all

I have been asked to bid on 400 towels for a hockey tournament. They want
the tournament name on the towels. I think embroidery (probably about 5000
stitches)might be a bit expensive and was thinking about transfers. Has
anyone used transfers successfully on towels? I checked Transfer Express,
they say all of their transfers work on towels but I have never tried it. I
worry about how they will hold up. Any suggestions?

Transfers will not work on towels that have a definite 'nap'. I've done
towels for years....
Cheapest way is direct screenprint...depending on the color of the towels
and the color of the ink.
Might be worth checking out a 'contract' embroidery house for their cost to
embroider-I get a great deal from Dick & Pat and they are right over between
you and me- in Vermont.
With the speedframe system-5,000 stitches would be real fast. Do you have
speedframe (clamp system) yet?

You can get the towels for $1-2 and have them embroidered for $2 so you are
in them $3-4 so you can sell them for $5-6 and not do a thing and make
$800-1200. Let me know if you need me to embroider them for $2. Emboidery
looks nicer and holds up better than trnsfers and if you get the microfiber
towels from sanmar (TW51, 52, 53, 54) they are $1.99 and much nicer than the
regular terry towels.

Okay, I put the usb dongle back together after straightening the "teeth" and

I am also thinking of getting an external usb hub for my designshop dongle

I may try to get a replacement though in case of sudden failure of the OS

Has anyone ever typed in a name, first and last, and on the computer screen
it is perfectly centered, but in the hoop the needle is about an inch below

older names that I stitched out months ago with no problem. Is there a

same?

Aaron,
How can you make any money only charging $2. a towel. I know doing 400 of
them makes a big difference, but you still have to hoop them and them clean
off the topping and backing when they are done. What type stabilizers would
you use? And how many machines do you have and how many people running them?

If the older name designs are working fine...then I suspect your
lettering on this problem name may have one of these two problems
that I've found before...
1) when typing in the name, you hit 'return' and then started typing, so
there is a blank 'line' above the first name but the Amaya still sees
that
empty spot and includes it in your alignment
2) this is the most common...you might have hit the key and left a small
stitch, column, anything above the lettering and not deleted it.
Only takes one rogue stitch and the design includes it for size spacing.
What I do is add a new color change, move the lettering down to that,
and
X that color. Then do 'select all' on the original (now blank) page
and see
if anything is picked up you couldn't see-then delete it.
Remove the color change, save it-and try it.
Otherwise, delete the whole file, go back to an old lettering job
that works right,
change the lettering to what your new file should be, save it as that
new file, and
send it to Amaya. Should work now as a new file-and then you know the
old file
was corrupted somehow. Don't know why or how but I know once in awhile a
flile gets corrupted and there's nothing you can do but start over
fresh.

Good luck!

Has anyone ever typed in a name, first and last, and on the computer

tried older names that I stitched out months ago with no problem. Is there
a setting somewhere to get both the hoop and the design on the screen the
same?

Does anyone know any good sites where I can purchase a couple 3D "Puff"
digitized fonts? I need the entire font. I have searched and found a few
but kinda scared on what I am getting.

If you are bidding on a job, the specs probably say embroidery or screen
printing on the bid so they probably won't take a substitute. I would give
the job to a contractor and you make money for about one hour of work.

Toni, I'm with you. Happy Holidays schmalzidays schlockadays is insipid.

Happy Hanakuh, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanza, Happy New Year, Blessed
Epiphany, are all more honest and respectful salutations.

I suggest we all start substituting Happy "holidays" for happy
"schlockadays", which reflects the insipidness of the greeting. and
the pure schlock it really is.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

I am also interested in Puffy foam letters. I could only find one pre
digitized font at Emb Library. But I would like to at least see others.
Could you tell us where these other fonts are?

Mele Kalikimaka everyone!

Juli in Kona where, on Christmas Day, we will eat the family dinner outside
on the lanai.

Well, I have 1 Amaya machine and me. BTW I tried a sample transfer from T.E.
(EasyTrans) and it actually looks good. Not sure it will last but it looks
good. This was on a regular terry towel. But I like embroidery. The
customer wants quotes for both transfer and embroidery.
I wouldnt do either charging only $2 per towel...
