Derise,
I believe the rollers and the kit were released officially a couple of
weeks ago. I am not sure where or how Melco plans on announcing it, but I
think it has been discussed here for quite awhile now. If you just ordered
the old rollers and would like to get the new ones instead, contact me at
jbanks@xxxxxxxxx and perhaps I can arrange an exchange of some kind?
The part number for the kit, which includes new thread feed rollers, new
red pinch rollers, and the covers that cover the feed rollers is 33104. I am
not 100% sure of the price, but I think it is somewhere around $100.00? I
will have to check tomorrow and let you know the exact price. I do know that
from the testing we have done it lasts many times longer than the older
ones. We have a test design which is just a dense fill of about 140K
stitches. We run material thickness at 0, and use that design and can kill
one of the old rollers in about 300K stitches or so. With the new ones, we
have run a couple of million stitches with the same settings on one roller
and it does not dent it. We have run millions of stitches here in testing
them and they seem much better. On the down side, they are more sensitive to
keeping them clean and maintained properly. If the maintenance schedules are
done at the proper intervals they work very well and in my opinion much
better.
Sincerely,

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the response. I'm afraid I've never heard of the roller kit you
mentioned. Can I install it myself? How much does it cost? Do I order it
off the website? Does it come with instructions?
How long has it been out? I'm a bit disappointed that this is the first I'm
hearing of it. I would have expected Melco to notify owners of an
improvement such as this. I just ordered $164.00 worth of rollers.

Hi Derise and ALL,
I have been working with others who have claimed problems with the new
rollers and have some requests to make.
Derise, the newer rollers are right up your alley and should be tried. They
last much longer than the older ones, and will eliminate the issues you are
seeing of replacing them as often as you are. I suggest ordering a kit, and
installing the kit and if you have problems we will address those problems
at that time. In all cases to date I have addressed with people, the
problems have been issues with not cleaning properly the thread feeder and
proper lubrication of not only the feed roller hubs, but also the red
rollers and the areas they rotate on.
I all cases I have worked with, after proper cleaning and lubrication the
rollers are working, and are working very well. In one case I sent another
kit which may or may not have fixed the issue, but until we get the old kit
back I will not know. I would like those of you having problems to contact
me personally and lets find out why they are not working properly for you.
We have done MILLIONS of stitches with these new rollers here at Melco and
we do not experience the problems of thread popping out from underneath the
rollers unless there are issues of dirt and lack of lubrication. Perhaps
there is something else going on with some of the kits we have sent out? If
so, we need to find out what and why.
If any of you are having problems and would like to get these issues
figured out, please contact me directly. My email at Melco is

Subject: [amayausers] Questions about rollers
Hi,
I was wondering how many rollers you use. I've been using the machine
pretty heavily in the last couple of months. I use primarily 5 colors. In
the last 6 weeks I've used 30 rollers. Is that normal, one roller per color
per week? I've done approximately 7,000,000 stitches in the last 2 months.
I've started ordering them in lots of 100.
