The part number you are looking for is--------- 32575 Spring, Flat, Cam, 
Presser Foot----------If the wheel is free wheeling, there is a high 
probability that it is broken. It would be a low dollar item, small and easy to 
replace. Over a period of time, this spring is continually being slightly bent 
up and down and will fatigue and break. Some seem to last forever, some 
don't...kind of like us....

The CD is a Parts and Tech manual is supplied with the machines when they are 
originally shipped out to the customer. It came in a white paper envelope with 
a clear plastic window in the front of it. Yes, there was/is one for Old 
Stitch....how could you forget a name like that..?? Was just Stitch, but now 
its, Old Stitch.....get a second machine and we will call him Grand-pa 
Stitch........hows that color change motor...still growling ? Probably pretty 
loud by now.....!  The latest in software is up to 7.00.114-----7.00.115 for DS 
and AOS, lots of good changes since the 6.08.522 you are running.........

  6.08.522 is the version of software. I looked up presser foot stuff in the 
tech manual and it doesn't address just the spring. It says to replace the 
entire essembly and that only a tech should do it. I never did get a parts cd. 
Is there one for the 2004 Amaya? Does the parts cd tell you how to replace the 
spring? I read how everybody seems to have these nice tutorial cds and get 
jeolous.  I, however, got any real training I've gotten from you and Sharon lo 
those many years ago. (Has it been 2 years?)

  If I call Melco and just tell them what I need will it be likely they'll be 
able to stear me in the right direction? You know, you spoiled me. I can't 
beleive you even remember Stitch's name!

  It sounds as if the tension spring that presses down on the ratchet wheel may 
be broken and needs to be replaced on old Stitch.....What version of software 
are you running now?  Yes the broken presser foot ratchet spring and the thread 
breaks are probably related.....check out your "parts CD" to see how this 
little contration fits together, and for the part number, it is easily replaced.

    Hi Folks,

    I have a mystery that I have't heard about. Two actually, but maybe they 
are related. 1) My presser foot wheel is so loose that while sewing the presser 
food moves all the way down (the wheel turns on it's own from the vibrations.) 
There is a spot in the center of the wheel that looks like an adjustment thing. 
I tried tightening that but no go. If I hold the wheel with a finger it will 
remain where it's put, but as soon as I let go, the wheel begins to turn. Is 
there some secret way to tighten this or adjust it?    2) I kept getting 5 to 
10 thread breaks on any flats. I swithed over to hats using the same design and 
no thread breaks. I switched back to flats and voila, more thread breaks. Since 
an easy variable was the needle plate, I switched to sewing flats with the 
raised needle plate. No thread breaks. Does anyone know what would cause the 
breaks that doesn't cause them using the raised needleplate? Could the falling 
presser foot been related? Thanks in Advance for any coaching.
