[amayausers] Re: Premium Alphabets for Design Shop

Dear Amayausers
We are also new with our business and would like to have your opinion.
We are thinking about selling sample alphabet books for embroidery
companies to show to there customers. We would sell a set of samples
pages based on the alphabets each customer chooses. We have an Anaya
and Design Shop Pro so we can only service people with that software. Is
this something that you would use and don't have time to put together?

John
I use Arial @150% pull comp or above. The density depends on the fabric
with
4.0 to 4.5 being the best on wovens. Pique is much more difficult given
the
nature of the weave so I try not to go below .20 @150% & 5. If you still
have thread breaks or problems increase the pull comp and go to a 70/10
or
65/9 needle and 60 wt thread. Slow the machine down to 1000 or 1100 spm.
If
you bend the needles slow it down a bit more. I used 2 oz cutaway
backing
and single ply of solvy. Kern very closely and select closest point
connections. Use 18 pt stitch length. Do not use trims between the
letters.
There is a lot of good information from experienced AMAYA users in this
list. Go to the archives and search for small lettering.
Jack

Jack:

What settings and fonts have you found work best on stock fonts with
Design
Shop. I'm still learning here and would love to know.

John

: I have been able to do very small text (.15) using the stock
: block fonts. I don't know how much smaller you intend to go,
: but @.15 it's realy hard to see how you can go much smaller
: and still turn out acceptable text. I too think the $125 is
: over the top.

: Has anyone purchased any of the premium alphabets for design
: shop? Looking at the mini micro block and times especially.
: I called and they said the packages start at $125 each which
: seems high considering what we paid for the software. I guess
: if it makes really great extra small lettering it could be
: worth it. User feedback of the premium fonts would be appreciated.
:
: Has anyone heard anything more about the update for the OS
: for the Amaya?
: Soon has been for the last 5 months. Getting tired of the run
: around. I lost another shirt the other day because of the OS.
: Sorry for venting to ya'll but maybe they are listening. The
: venting didn't even make me feel any better.
