[amayausers] Re: Pocket topper hooping

Yeah, it should work or at least a variation of it.
If it were me, I would sew it on a scrap material first
as it traces try to mark the edges as far as the bottom and
side where the compass hangs down then sew it out and take
some measurements.
basically you need to know how far from the laser drawn line
to the edge of the design (compass) so you know how far to
move the hoop to clear the pocket edge with the compass.
then the same for up and down with the measurement from the bottom
laser line to the bottom of the sewing on the design.
this way you know how far to move the hoop to clear it too.

So, I would do this. Say it's 1.5" from the bottom of the design
to the laser mark know use tape and draw a dot at the point you
want the design to start (just below the pocket edge) and measure
down 1.5" and make another mark on tape. move your hoop until the
laser trace hits this mark exactly and you know it will sew at the exact
spot just under the pocket edge, do the same for the side and your
good to go.

also it sounds like you will be hooping this design with the corner of the
pocket
in towards the middle of the hoop.
I like a challenge and I can be very confusing.
Good Luck, hope I didn't get too confusing. I'm sure
someone will chime in tomorrow and make it very easy
and to the point.

Let us know how it went.

  Thanks Ron,
I guess I should have explained that it's a polo style sport shirt (for a
teacher-Math tools sticking out of the pocket, and it has to be just right for
the compass to hang down on the left side.) Will the tape trick work for this?
As I said, I'm spatially hopeless. (I teach 9 year olds all day...I have an
excuse!) I'm only the "Computermaster" around here. "Hoopmaster" Bessie will
read this in the morning and give it a whirl.
