Ok, so I've tried the Cutter test and that worked, It moved Out when I clicked 
on Out and In when I clicked on In.  I removed the needle plate and cleaned the 
trimmer and hook area and lubricated it.  I performed a trim and the selector 
and knife both moved.  The last on your list to check with to see if the cables 
are connected to the back of the knife and selector -- what is the correct way 
to take apart to see?
