Yes there is a down side. if you have anny oil or anny grease on the rollers at all IT WILL NOT WORK GOOD I have that kind of rollers on my machines also i am a tech i clean mine
every day with alcohol .and when you put the rollers back in clean your hands so it is free of anny oil. then i do not have anny problems at all.

I have had the opportunity to install them on several of my customer machines.
There is no down side to the new style rollers.
The Thread feed rollers themselves have several changes to them, (all good)!
The Thread feed cover has been modified.
The Pinch roller has been modified to include a slight knurl on the outer diameter.

After removing the old rollers I would recommend that you take the time to clean out the feeder assembly, just like you would whenever you replaced a roller in the past.

Again there are no problems or issues that I saw in these new style rollers. I would definitely recommend them.
