[amayausers] Re: Need help with ** SERIOUS BUG ** in Amaya OS v5.07.043 !!

Jim, Lora, Ed, Rod and All,

I have tried to duplicate the problem Jim encountered and have not been
able to do so. I was able to make the needle stay down by pressing the
CANCEL button in the maintenance windows and aborting the procedure after I
had told it to do the Step Through. If I tried to change the needle to a
different needle the machine would display that it was not at Head Up and
would not move. This would be normal behavior if the needle was left down.
Under no circumstances should it have tried to move or change needles with
it down. Even if the machine is turned off during the procedure, when it is
turned back on it raises the needle before moving. So far in 10 attempts to
make it miss-behave, I have not been able to do so.

One thing that may have contributed to it, was doing the Step Through on
the maintenance Timer when it went off for the first time after the software
install. It went off or displayed it was time to do it as the 100,000,000 is
a new Timer to the machine and had never been created in the memory of the
machine before. This timer was actually changed and created in the 5.07.023
software (Jim was going from an older version 4.?? software). The
100,000,000 Timer was not new or any changes to it in the 5.07.043 that Jim
installed. Where we (Melco) may have made a mistake is in the release notes.
In the notes for version 5.07.023 it is stated that the new timers may go
off and display. It states to press the RESET and then go back and manually
run them from the Timers TAB the first time the new software is installed.
This note is not in the 5.07.043 Release notes as the 100,000,000 timer was
not new to the 5.07.043 release. We probably should add a note to the
5.07.043 and .048 release notes that if you are installing the software on
top of software 5.07.019 or older to press the RESET on the Timer Window
when the new software is installed.

This problem should NOT be a problem for anyone installing the maintenance
release as long as you have installed version 5.07.023 or higher previously.
If you are installing the newer 5.07.048 software and are currently using
5.07.019 or lower, then the 100,000,000 time will probably go off when
installing the newer software. If this happens do not click on Step through
the first time it goes off at install. Click on the RESET button in the
Window for the Timer. This will allow the machine to establish the new timer
in its memory correctly before trying to actually run the maintenance the
first time. Go back later after the software is installed and do the
maintenance by going to Settings/Timmers and click on the STEP button next
to the 100,000,00 timer in the window.

Please contact me if there are any further questions.

 Sincerely,
 Jeff Banks
